Introduction

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
-Melody Beattie

Thank you.

These two words are a powerful start to your day and your journey to happiness.

Over the next month, we are going to incorporate daily practices that will lead to your happiness. These practices are what I call promises. You will keep these promises to yourself.

Your first promise is to say "Thank you" first thing in the morning.

Every day when you open up your eyes, start your day by saying "thank you." Saying thank you to yourself, or out loud in the morning allows you to realize that you were given this one more day to live, love, laugh, make mistakes, and to move forward.

Start Now.

Say, "thank you for this day." Take a deep breath. And, say it again. "Thank you for this day."

Make a promise to yourself that this is how you will start everyday. "Thank you for this day." Say it as soon as you open your eyes. And, if you are looking for some "advanced" work around this habit, add a smile.

- Open your eyes
- Smile
- Say, "Thank you for this day."

Gratitude changes everything. And, this is where we will start.
